Use the exact product form in the request

Billets and blooms are semi-finished steel products. Their names should remain explicit in an enquiry rather than being replaced with a broad request for raw steel. The required product form is part of the material specification.

RINL includes billets and blooms in its published wider product mix. That catalogue context does not establish a current size, grade or availability for a specific transaction. Obtain the current technical and commercial information for the actual requirement.

State grade, cross-section and supplied length

Provide the grade designation, reference specification, required cross-section and length. Include any purchase requirements for composition, identification, testing or supply condition that the receiving process depends on.

A product name alone does not establish that material will fit a processing or handling requirement. Include the specification references that allow the seller to understand which details matter for the offer.

Define quantity and dispatch scope

List quantities by grade and product form. Make the purchase unit explicit, and ask how the final invoicing quantity will be established. Clarify minimum supply quantities or dispatch arrangements in the written quotation.

Provide the destination and receiving information early. Industrial semi-finished products may involve a different delivery arrangement from a small construction-steel request, so transport assumptions should not be left implicit.

Evaluate offers against the same requirement

Compare only after the product form, grade, dimensions and document scope are clear. If an alternative is offered, ask for it to be identified and reviewed against the original specification.

Keep the quotation date, validity, freight terms and agreed documents with the purchase record. This helps the receiving operation understand what was actually ordered and which documents are expected with it.
