Specify plain rounds clearly
Plain steel rounds have a different product identity from ribbed reinforcing bars. Buyers may need round bars for processing or manufacturing, and the enquiry should identify the exact grade and supply condition required by the purchase specification.

Include diameter, length and condition
List the required diameter, supplied length and quantity for every grade. State whether an as-rolled or another specified supply condition is required. Any machining allowance, surface requirement or inspection requirement should come from the approved purchasing specification.
If a buyer uses a different grade designation, provide the source standard or document with it. Similar names do not by themselves establish equivalence. A clear specification reduces avoidable clarification during the quotation process.
Keep documentation tied to the offered material
Ask for the required material test information and identification documents. Check that the written offer describes the same product form, grade and dimensions as the original request.
